Job Title: BIM Designer
Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Sector: Construction - Mission Critical
The BIM Designer is responsible for creating, managing, and verifying detailed 3D models of building systems, structures, and components to enhance collaboration, reduce conflicts, and improve project efficiency on mission-critical construction projects across EMEA. The role ensures accurate digital representation of design intent and supports decision-making throughout the project lifecycle, from design to construction and operation.
Key Responsibilities
Create detailed 3D models of buildings, structures, and systems using BIM software, incorporating geometry, materials, spatial data, and relevant parameters.
Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure BIM models accurately reflect project requirements and design intent.
Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination and collaboration to identify and resolve clashes and design conflicts.
Conduct analysis and simulations using BIM models, including clash detection, energy efficiency, load analysis, and hydronic flow analysis.
Generate construction documentation and drawings directly from BIM models for construction, permitting, and project coordination.
Manage, update, and maintain BIM models throughout the building lifecycle, supporting construction, facility management, and future renovations.
Visit project sites to confirm compliance with BIM models, design drawings, and overall project intent.
Coordinate with manufacturer representatives to integrate products and components accurately within the BIM model.
Review contractor-provided models, ensuring alignment with project specifications and design standards.
Support digital project delivery workflows, documentation standards, and the implementation of BIM best practices across projects.
Key Competencies
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in BIM software such as Revit, ArchiCAD, and AutoCAD, with the ability to produce accurate models and documentation.
Attention to Detail: Ensures precision in modeling, documentation, and clash detection processes to maintain high-quality standards.
Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate effective coordination with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues within models and propose practical solutions to improve constructability and design efficiency.
Adaptability: Flexible in responding to evolving project requirements, timelines, and site conditions.
Communication: Capable of articulating technical details and BIM-related processes clearly to diverse project teams.
